Alec Jacob Solis, born in Brownsville, Texas, began his early education by graduating from Veterans Memorial Early College High School in the class of 2020.

One of Alec’s most commendable accomplishments came in 2020 when he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his leadership, determination, and commitment to serving his community. His project, which provided free CPR classes to locals, showcased his dedication to public health and safety, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors.

Alec pursued higher education with a focus on Microbiology and Immunology, complemented by a minor in Chemistry, at The University of Texas at San Antonio with an anticipated graduation date of May 2024. His academic journey is distinguished by his participation in two federally funded research programs: ESTEEMED and MARC.

Throughout his undergraduate career, Alec has demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for research, having completed projects in four diverse laboratories specializing in Microbiology/Immunology, Genetics, and Parasitology. His work has not only contributed to the scientific community but has also been recognized at various poster presentations at both local and national scientific research conferences, highlighting his ability to convey complex research findings effectively.

As President of The Society of Undergraduate Research and the STEM Outreach/Student Involvement Coordinator for the American Society for Microbiology, Alec has shown exceptional leadership skills and a passion for promoting scientific inquiry and education among his peers and the broader community.

Currently, Alec is embarking on the next phase of his academic and professional journey by applying to graduate programs to pursue a Ph.D. in Immunology. His research interests in cancer immunotherapy, microbiology, and virology reflect a deep commitment to addressing some of the most challenging issues in health and disease.

Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Alec is a person of diverse interests. He finds joy in reading, playing the guitar and piano, and embracing the tranquility of nature through walks.
