Clinical Experience

Clinical experiences include shadowing or volunteering in a setting related to your field of study. They are most common in healthcare fields such as nursing, mental health, and social work. They give you a first-hand look into the daily life of a healthcare professional and allow you to become familiar with how a clinic, hospital, or organization runs. Depending on the program, you may be provided care and treatment to patients. Clinical experience is important for advancement to medical school and for future employers to see that you have a good understanding of your field and are committed to helping people.
