The purpose of B.E.S.O. is to provide information, assistance and fellowship for students who are interested in bicultural and bilingual studies. B.E.S.O. encourages awareness of bilingual/Esl education among all students and faculty.
It was founded in 1979 by Dr. Belinda Fores and Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark.
B.E.S.O.’s over-arching mission focuses on academic success through its scholarships. The membership reflects the multiculturalism of South Texas, including both traditional and non-traditional students who will become bilingual educators serving in our community.
