Ten Things You Should Know About Today’s Student Veteran

It’s no surprise that in Military City USA (San Antonio), we sure do love our veterans.  UTSA is recognized for being a veteran friendly university.  As our veterans begin or continue their transition from boots to books, its important to understand some of the struggles that come from having served in our military and its impact to their transition into civilian life and as a college student.

The National Education Association has a great article that shines light on many of the issues and concerns facing student veterans. “Ten Things You Should Know About Today’s Student Veteran” http://www.nea.org/home/53407.htm

Here at the University Career Center, we have the privileged of having veterans on our team.   Audrey Magnuson-Center Director and Otis Scott-Assistant Director of Employer Relations, both retired Air Force and our Alumni Career Counselor Bennett Grey who proudly served in the United States Army.

You are not alone and as a community we come together to make sure we provide you with resources to help you get to your next step.

The University Career Center provides you with professional development, career exploration, job searching assistance, resume building, interviewing skills and much more through out your college career at UTSA and for a life time as an alumni.  Make sure to take advantage of your resources and register for joinhandshake.com as well as utsacareeredge.edu.  Our next Veteran’s mixer is September 18th, 2017 from 6pm-8pm-https://careercenter.utsa.edu/events/2017/09/18/fall-2017-veterans-and-graduate-student-networking-mixer-follow-career-fair/.
