Whether you are looking to enter the workforce immediately after undergrad, or looking to stay in academia, the interview process can still be daunting. I’ve fielded questions about phone interviews from several students lately, and it appears that they are becoming more and more common. Employers may utilize the phone interview as a screening method, literally calling each applicant to determine whether minimum qualifications are met. Others implement the phone interview as a company practice to replace the traditional, face-to-face ‘Round One’ meeting.
